Aim:

To present the principles and practice of Organisation Development: organisational diagnosis, actions, interventions to solve problems and realise opportunities, evaluation and on going action; and to explore these in the context of participants’ own challenges.

Content:

The course will cover a range of models that take a ‘whole system’ or holistic perspective of  organisations  and the environments in which they operate. The course will cover definitions of organisations and their sub-systems; organisational interfaces; organisational processes; communication  and the   leadership  roles, models and behaviours required. We will examine models of organisational maturity and explore a range of diagnostic methods and OD interventions  including: surveys, appreciative enquiry, action research,  culture mapping and partnership working.

Methodology:

OD thinking is by definition aspirational, challenging and heavily dependent on a whole systems perspective. It requires an ability to think and work across traditional boundaries. The programme will be highly participative: collaborative working and co-creating solutions will be the norm.

Case studies will be drawn from participants own work challenges to form ‘real time’ learning opportunities and to model action learning.

Outcomes

By the end of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Map their current and future organisational models
  • Define the culture and core values in their organisation’s vision
  • Develop a transition action plan and define the information they will need and  interventions they choose to make
  • Map the relationships and partnerships that will help them to succeed

Participants

  • able to lever change
  • fit with other programmes eg programme management, consultancy skills, leadership
